On January 9th, Giant Steps hosted staff from community agencies, including Sonoma County Behavioral Health, Sunny Hills Services, COTS, Child Parent Institute, Verity, TLC Child and Family Services, and Sonoma County Family, Youth and Children’s Services for an Equine Facilitated Learning Experience Day. During the fun, activity-based day the participants had a chance to experience first-hand what our clients do when working on the ground with our 1,000 pound therapists. Activities focused on connection, self-reflection, boundaries, and intention. Horses are always in the present and are non-judgmental. They mirror behavior and give instant and honest feedback. We use the lens of our past experiences to interpret their behavior and relate to them. Giant Steps is proud to work with agencies in the Bay Area who provide services for our community. If you are interested in equine facilitated learning please contact Julie Larson, Giant Steps Program Director.
