NEW ARENA BECOMES A REALITY

With our current arena in constant use we dreamt of a second arena to continue to grow our therapeutic riding program and to offer other equine assisted therapies, such as equine assisted psychotherapy and hippotherapy.

At our Gala in 2010, we made a plea for seed money for a new arena. A generous donor, Peggy Furth, stepped up and made a donation. Since then, we have been working on raising the rest of the funds to build it. At our most recent Golf Tournament, sponsored by Barclays, we conducted a Fund-a-Need paddle raise specifically asking to fund this new arena. In as little as 10 minutes, the participants in the room came together and donated enough money for us to make this dream a reality.

Now that we have the new arena we wonder how we got along without it.  We use it for horse turnout (the horses love to run, play and roll in it), private lessons, leading lessons and orientations. Because of the new programming and the new arena, we can now serve more participants than ever. Thank you to all the donors who contributed to make this happen!

ST REGIS POLO CUP AN INSPIRING EVENT

The St. Regis San Francisco hosted it's inaugural Polo Cup at the Wine Country Polo Club in Santa Rosa in September to benefit Giant Steps. The event included a riding demonstration by Giant Steps riders, a polo match featuring St. Regis Ambassador and international model Nacho Figueras, an Argentine Asado, th Signature St. Regis Bloody Mary bar, and a silent auction. The silent auction brought in just over $37,000 for our programs. We are grateful to Toni Knorr, General Manager of The St. Regis SF, and brainchild behind the event. Toni came to our Gala a few years ago and decided she wanted to do a benefit for the children riding at Giant Steps. She pulled off an awe-inspiring event and we were honored to be a part of it.
